12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.

first on decks.de !! >when you dont have a single home, the no man s land of being in transit can be strangely comforting.< heimwehg is a mixture of the german word heimweh (aching for home) and heimweg (the way home). these two words represent the sound of hannes smiths first own release. hannes, born in the former german communist area in 1986, lived in reykjavik for the past two years and wrote this ep about the way back home to germany.

when we released aardvarcks nosestep as part of his well well well ep in the summer of 2007 it cause quite a stir in the then formative dubstep scene, almost anybody played that track. now we re-release it with a new version by cosmin trg, who transformed it into a strong acidic stepper, 2010 style. on the b-side we find an unreleased nubian mindz remix from aardvarcks spoken release from 2001. we didnt release it at the time, but with the whole new future house movement coming strong, the timing couldnt be more perfect

the most favourite of italian producers, bottin, returns with an old project. tinpong is a collaboration between bottin and swiss singer joy freypong. these tasty masters were just gathering dust on an old hard disc in venice but when we heard them we just had to get these gems out there.

dimitri kneppers (1967) music career reads like an encyclopedia. a house encyclopedia. after 23 years of spinning records you could call this dj a true veteran. known for his enormous sensitivity, true feeling and mixing skills he gives you the sense you are the voyeur of an intimate act between two lovers. the music and the man. but nobody ever felt and looked so comfortable behind the decks as dj dimitri, for he brings the crowd at ease like don juan would do with women. when ecstasy is no longer just a word, but a true magical moment as the crowd, the surroundings and the music all come together in one hypnotizing state of happiness. this man knows -or should we say feels- what he is doing, not only behind the decks but also when producing. in september 2007 dimitri said goodbye to his headphones to work on a farm with mentally handicapped people. fortunately for his fans the break wasnt premanent in the middle of last year he installed a studio in his home, then this past june he returned to the decks - now he makes his planet e debut with a stunning track already tearing up dancefloors. included is the first of two remixes by carl craig. a second ep with remixes by orlando voorn and carl craig will appear in early 2011

g.i.disco - an 80s history of cold war s hottest music in west-germany berlin local dj heroes kalle kuts and daniel w. best a.k.a. g.i.disco have compiled an excellent 80s soul, funk, r & b and disco selection. it combines representative music of that time with informative liner notes about the german historical background (which also is an important part of 20th century s world history), international artist quotes and worldwide renowned art by berlin based photographer frank thiel to an unique history lesson and listening experience. soul, funk and r&b from the us became a worldwide dance and clubbing movement during the 70s when it turned disco. in the late 70s and 80s more and more new electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines were added to the horn riffs and piano licks, bringing the funk back on the dance floor while still leaving it s soul untouched. although a global success story, it played an interesting role especially in the german experience. lp comes in gatefold sleeve.

(cue the overdrive and the interstellar vocal.) slovenian-based, us singer, hannah mancini, provides those cosmic vocals, ably recorded by sare havlicek in sunny ljubljan. after a sly re-titling of the track (to avoid confusion with the original the name has been extended to >on a highway to saturn<) its on to the obligatory over-the-top nang remix package...first up is a new version from d-pulse for those long summer nights. their >australian shore reversion< mix slows down the groove to a balmy evening by noosa shores pace. space-rock, guitar solos, smouldering synths and lazy rhythms all combine to make this one for the beach house. sare havlicek adds a couple of mixes of his own. keeping things hi-energy he goes for the disco jugular with his trademark stabby synths and tight production. nang newcomers, proper heat, strip things back and go for a slow-grooving baltic-disco chugger. rounding off the remix package is japanese based jan ken po (aka max essa). he delivers a dance floor friendly version with a big and bold walking bass riff and tasteful synths

gunnar stiller has always been known for producing dance floor >destroyers<, even if >far from okay< sounds a bit like a floor wax accident theres no need for the timid raver soul to get worried about slipping and falling. soft accords sedate the mind, the bass pumps in the adrenaline and a voice softly whispers that everything is going to be just fine…all you need to do is dance. when the janitor loko mops over the uy 038 floor with his remix you can even walk over it on the highest of high heels. it does in fact, get a bit rougher when the lights go out on >some kind of weird< and the smoke machine goes starts pumping. thats when its >black piste< time and thats no place for heidi klum or techno beginners…but who wants to be a model anyway, right?
